The Meissnitzer Band is an Austrian alpine rock band from Abtenau in Salzburg .
Band history
In 1996 the singer Christiane Meissnitzer founded the Trio Meisi Musi with Hans Gsenger and Mark Reschreiter . Originally, they only wanted to play in a World Cup race in Slovenia to support the ski racer Alexandra “Meisi” Meissnitzer , Christiane's cousin. Further appearances at ski races and in the local area became a permanent band and, from 2003, the Meissnitz band with an expanded line-up , which took part in the Grand Prix of Folk Music for the first time in the same year .
In 2004 they were commissioned to compose an anthem for the state of Salzburg .
In the following years they continuously increased their popularity. The nationwide radio hit Hoamat from the album of the same name (2008) was followed by the album Echt a year later . The 2010 album Hiatz was even more successful and made it into the Austrian album charts for the first time.
