Katrin Vernau

Katrin Vernau (* 1973 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) is a German economist . Before the state elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2011 , Nils Schmid appointed the non-party as a candidate for the office of science minister in his shadow cabinet .

Vernau graduated from high school in 1992 at Deutenberg . She studied at the University of St. Gallen until 1996 and received her doctorate from the University of Potsdam in 2001 . From 2002 to 2005 she was Chancellor of Ulm University . From December 2006 to November 2012 she held this position at the University of Hamburg . Since December 2012 she has been partner and dean of the Roland Berger School of Strategy and Economics. She is a member of the supervisory board of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University .

Vernau was nominated as administrative director of the WDR . On August 13, 2014, WDR director Buhrow proposed the then 41-year-old to the broadcaster's broadcasting council as the successor to Hans W. Färber. In its meeting on August 22, 2014, the committee elected her as WDR administrative director with 33 of 38 votes.
