Master of the Ursula legend: Ursula cycle: Appearance of the angel, around 1500

As Master of the Ursula legend one is medieval painter called that of 1489/90 up to 1510/15 was active. The artist , who is not known by name, is named after his cycle from the Severinskirche in Cologne with depictions of the legend of St. Named Ursula. This cycle, originally consisting of at least 19 canvas paintings, dedicated to the legend of Ursula, is now partially lost or destroyed since the Second World War. Its remaining parts can be seen in various museums in Europe.

His work shows a close relationship with the Dutch painting of his time.

Cologne legend of Ursula

To distinguish it from other artists of the Middle Ages not known by name, such as the Bruges Master of the Ursula Legend , whose emergency name in art history was also derived from an Ursula legend as the main work, the Master of the Ursula Legend from Cologne should add the addition of Meister der Kölner Ursula legend .
