As a master of Saarwerden-tomb one is late Gothic sculptor in Cologne called. The artist, who is not known by name, got his emergency name after the tomb of Friedrich III, who died in 1414 . von Saar Werden , Archbishop and Elector of Cologne.

The high grave is in the Marienchor of Cologne Cathedral. The figures of the substructure, carved out of sandstone by the master of the Saar Werden tomb, are counted among the most important examples of Cologne stone sculptures from around 1400. The tomb is covered with a bronze plate representing the figure of the bishop. This reclining figure probably does not come from the master himself, but from another workshop.

The overall composition of the grave is an important example of late Gothic grave sculpture from the region. The substructure shows the Annunciation to Mary and Christ as rulers of the world as well as angels, apostles and saints. Below the depiction of Christ, Friedrich von Saar Werden himself is depicted. The faces of the figures and the folds of their clothes are made in the soft style of the time.
