Mecca & Symposium

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mekka & Symposium was a demo party that was held from 1997 to 2002 in the Heidmarkhalle in Bad Fallingbostel . It arose from the merger of the Mekka and Symposium parties , both of which took place in 1996 in Burg Seevetal near Hamburg, just one week apart.

The symposium occupied the traditional date from Good Friday to Easter Monday , on which all subsequent Mecca & Symposium events also took place. The merger of the two parties united the Commodore 64 and Amiga supporters of the symposium and the PC scenes of Mecca . The Mekka & Symposium thus became the largest and most diverse event in the demo scene .

After disagreements within the organizers, the Mekka & Symposium was no longer held in 2003. Many of them, however, found a place in the organization of Breakpoint , which was held for the first time in 2003 and can be viewed as a follow-up party.
