  • a nickname of Domenico as the Italian form of Dominik (originally "belonging to the Lord")
  • a Milanese character of the Commedia dell'Arte , the crafty and devoted servant Meneghin
  • as well as subsequently for the (allegedly) typical Milanese (dialect, mentality)
