Origin and meaning

Dominik is the abbreviation for Dominikus , Latin Dominicus and means "belonging to the Lord". By the Lord is meant Jesus Christ . Since this Domenica - "Day of the Lord" means the Sunday on which, according to biblical tradition, Jesus rose from the dead , the name can also refer to a child born on this weekday .
