Dominic Adiyiah (born November 29, 1989 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian soccer player . Adiyiah is under contract with the Thai second division side Chiangmai United FC .

Career

society

Dominic Adiyiah began his career at the age of ten in the "Feyenoord Academy", which is located in Goma Fetteh , Ghana and was sponsored by the Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam . After spending seven years there, he moved to Heart of Lions in January 2007 , where he made his professional debut in the Ghana Premier League and was voted the best newcomer of the season at the end of the 2007/08 season and was the second best scorer of the season with 13 goals this season League.

In August 2008 Adiyiah dared to move to Europe, to the Norwegian club Fredrikstad FK for a transfer fee between 100,000 and 125,000 pounds sterling . For Fredrikstad, he made his debut game on August 30 in a 0-0 draw against Aalesunds FK . During the 2008 season he came to four league appearances, but to no hit. His team finished the season as runner-up. In the pre-season 2009 he scored in two friendlies, but in the league it was again disappointing. As in the 2008 season, he only played four games and never scored a single time. However, he made his UEFA Europa League debut when he started the second leg against Lech Posen and was replaced by Michael Trulsen in the 83rd minute .

After he shone as top scorer and best player of the tournament at the 2009 Junior World Cup , the Italian top club AC Milan noticed him. Speculation intensified when Fredrikstad announced that they had received an offer for Adiyiah of 500,000 euros from a top European club. This rumor was confirmed on November 1st by Milan managing director Adriano Galliani , six days later Adiyiah signed a contract with AC Milan after passing the medical check. On January 2, 2010, the change was officially completed, but Adiyiah was not yet able to play as he was still at the African Cup of Nations . After his return a month later, he secured a previously missing work permit in Italy and was thus finally eligible to play. But in the 2009/10 season he did not come to a single league use for the "Rossoneri".

In July 2010 he was awarded for the first half of the season to the Serie B team Reggina Calcio . There he made a total of 13 league appearances and scored his only goal for Reggina in Serie B in the 1-0 home win over US Grosseto . He was also successful in the Coppa Italia and scored in the 4-2 win after extra time against Frosinone Calcio .

After the loan period expired, it was loaned out again in the same month, this time the trip to Serbia led to FK Partizan Belgrade . At Partizan he played with his national team colleague Prince Tagoe . But this loan station was not satisfactory for him, he only made six league appearances in half a year and remained without scoring when Partizan won the double of the championship and the cup.

For the 2011/12 season he was awarded to the Turkish second division club Karşıyaka SK .

National team

In 2008 Adiyiah was nominated for the Ghanaian U-20 national team , the Black Satellites , for the first time . He made his debut against Niger on March 30th. As a result, he was part of the squad for the U-20 West African Championship in the same year. The following year he won the U-20 African Football Championship in Egypt with the U-20 . His team was also very successful at the 2009 Junior World Cup . He played seven games, scored eight goals and won the tournament in the final against Brazil 4-3 on penalties. His eight goals gave him the golden shoe as the top scorer and the award as the best player of the tournament. The FIFA Technical Study Group praised his qualities as a " strong, fast, mobile striker, first-class in a tight space, strong in two-way combat, goalscorer ".

Shortly after the triumph in the U-20 national team, he was nominated on November 3, 2009 for the World Cup qualifier against Mali on November 15 . However, he got no chance to play in this game. He made his international debut three days later in a friendly against Angola . In January 2010 he was part of the squad for the 2010 African Cup of Nations . Although he only came to two short appearances, he was able to recommend himself for further international appearances in the two games. With further convincing performances, he made it into the squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa . In the 0-1 group game defeat against Germany , he came on in the final minutes for André Ayew . After he was not used in the round of 16, he was brought into play in the quarter-finals against Uruguay just before the end of regular time for Sulley Muntari . His extra-time injury-time header was knocked off the goal line by Uruguay's striker Luis Suárez , and Suárez was sent off. Asamoah Gyan shot the due penalty against the crossbar and Ghana finally lost 4-2 on penalties. Adiyiah couldn't convert his penalty either.
