biography
Dominik Raschner comes from Mils bei Hall and starts for the local ski club. His father is a sports scientist and teaches at the University of Innsbruck .
In February 2011 Raschner took part in the European Youth Olympic Festival in Liberec and finished eleventh in the slalom. At the age of 17 he contested his first FIS races . At his first junior world championship in Jasná he reached a 14th place in giant slalom, in slalom he was eliminated. With another participation in Hafjell , he could not improve this result. In January 2014 he made his European Cup debut in the Zell am See slalom, but it took a few years to establish himself at a high level. His breakthrough came in the 2017/18 season when he celebrated two victories (parallel slalom at Plan de Corones and giant slalom in Soldeu ) and was able to secure victory in the giant slalom classification. In the overall standings he finished second behind his team-mate Johannes Strolz .
Raschner made his World Cup debut on December 22nd, 2015 in the slalom of Madonna di Campiglio . In the slalom of Kitzbühel he broke his outer ankle in January 2017 and had to take a break of several weeks. In the 2018/19 World Cup winter he planned to contest all giant slaloms for the first time as the overall EC winner, but suffered a cruciate ligament and meniscus tear in his left knee at an EC race in Andalo , which meant that he had to end the season early.
At the beginning of December 2019, he won his first World Cup points by finishing 28th in the giant slalom at Beaver Creek . At the races in Alta Badia he was also able to place in the points, where he narrowly missed the top 10 in eleventh place in the parallel giant slalom.
