Mengla County ( 勐腊县 , Měnglà Xiàn ) is a district of the Dai Xishuangbanna Autonomous District in the south of Yunnan Province ( People's Republic of China ) on the border with Myanmar and Laos . It has an area of ​​7,056 km² and has a population of 200,000. Its main town is the large community Mengla (勐腊 镇). The Mengla virus is named after the province and was detected in rosette bats , which are native to the humid monsoon forest in Mengla.
