Menhir dels Palaus

The phallic menhir dels Palaus (menhir of the palaces) was found overturned in 1975 near the farmhouse dels Palaus, west of the AP-7 on the eastern edge of Agullana in the comarca Alt Empordà in Catalonia in Spain by Joan Verdú Costa.

It was set up in 1987 about 50 m from its original location. The menhir of granite dating back to the 4th or 3rd millennium BC. Chr. Dimensions: 2.5 m high (total length 3.2 m), 0.8 m wide and 0.40 m thick. On one side there is a yoke-shaped engraving about 2.0 m long and 0.34 m wide. On another side there is an anthropomorphic or tree-like engraving, of which only the left side (0.80 m long and 0.40 wide) has been preserved.

Nearby are the dolmen La Barraca del Lladre and La Llosa de la Jaça d'en Torrent as well as the menhir La Pedra Dreta, also called Roc del Frare.
