Menophilus (gem cutter)
Menophilos ( Greek Μμνόφιλος ) was a Greek gem cutter who worked in the late Hellenism . It is believed that he worked at the Ptolemaic court.
Only one garnet from Syria is preserved from Menophilus , which is set in a gold ring. The stone shows the portrait of a man who is interpreted as Mark Antony . The ring is located in the Oriental Institute in Chicago .
