Human shark

The term human shark stands in the broadest sense for shark species that are potentially dangerous to humans. The expression is used as a trivial name for:

  • the great white shark or white shark ( Carcharodon carcharias )
  • in the plural ( human sharks ) for the family of requiem sharks (Carcharhinidae), to which u. a. belongs to the majority of dangerous species, but not the great white shark
