Human protective shield
A human protective shield is the deliberate placement of non-combatants within, near or in front of a military target in order to prevent the enemy from attacking. The use of human shields is illegal under the Geneva Conventions .
background
Human shields are used to protect ready-to-use weapons and arsenals. They are considered to be a particularly cruel type of warfare , as civilians and non-combatants in general are exposed to a very high risk. In some cases, explicit coercion is also used. So it happened that people were chained. The attackers are given the choice of either killing innocent people or refraining from attacking the military target - with the possible (military) consequences.
