The Mentawa is a saber from Java .

description

The Mentawa has a curved, heavy, single-edged and bulbous blade. The blade widens from the handle to the location and is curved in an S-shape. The back of the blade is slightly convex after the handle and has a step after about two thirds of the blade. Then the back runs slightly concave to the place. The cutting edge is strongly S-shaped. The place is pointy. The blades are usually made of pamor steel (a type of Damascus steel ). The magazine has a full-schmiedetes from the blade parry and is made of wood or horn . The pommel and the rest of the hilt are carved in the shape of a head from a mythical creature or the Indonesian Naga . The Mentawa is used by ethnic groups from Java.
