The Merriweather Post Pavilion is an amphitheater in Columbia , Maryland .
Data and usage
The open-air stage was built in 1967 and opened in the same year. There is a grass area in front of the stage for standing, sitting and lying down, while a stadium grandstand is located behind the area. The maximum number of visitors is 19,319. Howard Hughes Corporation owns the structure, which is managed and serviced by IMP Incorporation. The venue was renovated in 2015 and 2016. Artists like Jimi Hendrix , Eric Clapton , Janis Joplin , Led Zeppelin , The Grateful Dead and The Who have performed here.
