The Merseburg colored paper factory or colored paper factory Heilmann is a listed paper factory in the city of Merseburg in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is recorded as a monument with registration number 094 20926 .

General

After the mechanical process for producing colored paper was improved in the first half of the 19th century , the first colored paper factory was built on Neumarkt in Merseburg as early as 1824.

history

Nothing is left of the colored paper factory built in 1824. The building, now known as the main building, was probably built between 1880 and 1890, the exact date is not known. The extension was built in 1907. From 1918 to 1939, the colored paper factory was owned by Sebastian Heilmann. Today (as of 2016) part of the paper mill is used by a fitness studio.

For the design of the street facade, elements of the Italian city palace and unplastered yellow clinker bricks were used .

The buildings of the former colored paper factory are located on Neumarkt Street at number 36.
