cylindrical mesa

A mesa is generally referred to as an elevation with a flat surface and steep flank. The term is derived from table mountains , which are called "Mesa" in Spanish. The mesa structure is primarily known from semiconductor technology , mainly in the form of the mesa transistor , a transistor with a table mountain-shaped shape. However, the term is also used in microsystem technology .
