Mesh head

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mesh heads are special drum heads that are used on modern e-drums . They can also be mounted on "normal" acoustic drums instead of normal heads in order to enable quiet practice, for example in apartments, and / or to create better conditions for triggering the drums. The term trigger skin is therefore not uncommon.

In addition to the usual hoops, mesh heads usually consist of a plastic fabric or metal net, similar to a mosquito net . Like a normal head, they can be stretched to different degrees in order to be able to adapt the rebound and pitch (even if only very softly) to personal preferences. The feel of the game is very similar to normal heads, and the response is authentic.

Two-layer mesh heads are not only more durable than bass drum heads, but should also have better trigger behavior. Mesh heads are now available from some manufacturers in all the usual sizes from 6 ″ -24 ″ - colors mostly black or white.
