The area is managed by Veletrhy Brno as , which is wholly owned by the city. Trade fairs, congresses, sports events and concerts are held on the site.

history

Pavilion A

In 1923, the Brno City Council approved the project of a new international exhibition center. 1927–1928 the Brno Exhibition Center was built. On May 26, 1928, the exhibition of contemporary culture in Czechoslovakia 1928 opened under the patronage of President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk .

In 1955 the 1st exhibition of Czechoslovak mechanical engineering took place and in 1958 the 1st International Engineering Fair MSV Brno. Building (selection)

Pavilion A

Pavilion A, also known as the Trade and Industry Palace , is the dominant feature of the exhibition center. It is designed as an interface between two axes that divide the complex of trade fair pavilions. The pavilion was built in 1924–1928 according to plans by Josef Kalous and Jaroslav Valenta . The other pavilions were built by Brno architects along these axes.

Pavilion G

Pavilion G with observation tower

Bohumír Čermák's pavilion G consists of a 45-meter high lookout tower and two exhibition halls. The originally wooden side wings were replaced by reinforced concrete halls in 1958.

Brno Pavilion

Brno Pavilion by Bohuslav Fuchs

The Brno city pavilion was designed by Bohuslav Fuchs and built in 1929. The brick-colored, functionalist building is characterized by simplicity and elegant details such as an outer spiral staircase and a wide access staircase.

Morava pavilion

The Moravian Pavilion ( Pavilon země Moravy ) was designed by Vlastislav Chroust in consultation with Bohuslavs Fuchs. The two exhibition buildings are on the west-east axis. Chroust's building is clad with the same tiles and differs mainly in the two large circular windows on the long sides.

AVU Pavilion

The pavilion of the Academy of Fine Arts Prague (AVU) in the north of the area was designed by the Czechoslovak star architect Josef Gočár . The one-story reinforced concrete building has a three-part facade that was originally decorated with sculptures.

Pavilion B

The exhibition hall was built in 1958 because the existing exhibition space turned out to be too small. The 121 meter long, glazed building was reconstructed and expanded in 1985.

Pavilion Z

Pavilion Z

Pavilion Z is also the largest extension of the 1950s. The circular hall with a diameter of 124 meters spans a 46 meter high dome. The tubular steel construction is the work of architect Ferdinand Lederer in 1959. It was restored in the 1990s.

Pavilion C

Pavilion C

Pavilion C was completed in 1959. The hall with a rectangular floor plan covers a dome similar to Pavilion Z. In 1998 it was renovated and connected to Pavilion A via a glass tube.

Pavilion V

Pavilion V

Pavilion V from 2000 is one of several recent additions. After 1989, the exhibition grounds were expanded to include four large exhibition halls and a congress center.
