aims
With international exhibitions, the city government hopes that Kaohsiung, with its local industrial characteristics, can develop into an international exhibition city. The aim is to boost Kaohsiung's economy, increase tax revenue and increase job opportunities. The Kaohsiung exhibition hall is an OT project. It is currently operated by the German company Uniplan GmbH & Co. KG. At the beginning Uniplan invested 250 million NTD and it is hoped that over the 12.5 year period it will be able to generate revenues of 3.4 billion NTD.
Fairground
The exhibition area of the Kaohsiung exhibition hall is divided into a north hall and a south hall. The size of the south hall is 9,100 square meters and offers space for 520 exhibition stands. The size of the north hall is 8,800 square meters and offers space for 504 exhibition stands. In between is a long corridor that divides the hall. On the second floor there are different meeting rooms for different conferences. The largest room can accommodate around 2,000 people. In addition to the conference rooms, there are technical rooms, lounges, VIP rooms and media centers. In addition to an indoor exhibition area, there is an event area by the water to meet the needs for various exhibitions. The outdoor exhibition area extends to the port.
construction
In the architecture of the Kaohsiung exhibition hall, environmental friendliness was used as the main criterion. The Kaohsiung exhibition hall uses the chimney effect to ventilate and cool buildings, thereby greatly reducing power consumption. The roof of the building was constructed like a wave and the curtain wall consists of 16,000 aluminum profiles. The LED lights on the roof glow like a wave in the dark. There are no columns in the 27-meter-high, 182-meter-long and 50-meter-wide south hall. With a floor load capacity of 5 tons / square meter, the Kaohsiung exhibition hall is the only exhibition space in Taiwan in which very large, heavy objects can be exhibited.
Exhibitions
The Taiwan International Boat Show and the Taiwan International Fastener Show are particularly important for the Kaohsiung exhibition hall. The Taiwan International Boat Show attracted around 70,000 visitors in 2016.
