Mestral (noble family)
The de Mestral were a noble family from Vaud , whose name is derived from the castle of Mont-le-Vieux in Essertines-sur-Rolle .
Although numerous rulers lost in the course of the Helvetic Revolution of 1798, they remained large landowners , albeit bourgeois, and administered their lands or turned to professions.
The de Mestral also owned castles , including the most famous and still in their possession today, Saint-Saphorin .
