The META shelving GmbH & Co. KG is a medium sized company with headquarters in Arnsberg in the Sauerland . It deals with the manufacture of storage technology and operates locations in a total of 14 countries.

history

The nail factory Caspar Schnettler & Co. was founded in 1896 as a predecessor company. The company produced nails from sheet metal and was one of the processing companies of the rolling mills of the Hüsten trade union . In the following years the production was expanded, u. a. on upholstery nails. In 1913 the Schnettler company built its own cold rolling mill . The Hüstener Nagelfabrik Kemmerling & Hockelmann GmbH was founded on the site of the factory in 1915 next to the old company . This merged in 1919 with a subsidiary of Schnettler to form Metall-Industrie GmbH (META). The original Schnettler company was dissolved in 1924.

In 1963, the company first produced modular steel shelving for households and businesses. In 1969, the company acquired new premises in the Große Wiese industrial area in Arnsberg. At the same time, the company was renamed META-Regalbau GmbH & Co. KG.

In 1972 META founded a subsidiary in Graz and subsequently developed into the market leader in household shelving on the Austrian market. In 1984 META acquired the company Kusto shower partitions based in Bad Salzuflen .

The company was acquired by Joachim Loh from Haiger in 1986 and is still part of the Joachim Loh group of companies today . Within the group of companies, META concentrated on the field of storage technology. At the beginning of 2000, META founded subsidiaries in Poland and the Czech Republic . A new logistics center was built in 1991 and a new administration and training center in 2000. According to its own information, the company is one of the market leaders for warehouse technology in the industrial B2B sector in Germany.
