Metaplasm (grammar)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Metaplasm (dt .: transformation ) means in grammar a change in the formation of forms, e.g. B. between singular and plural.

For example, the Latin word locus (place, place, place) forms both the plural loci (places) to be expected from the singular and the second form loca (area) , which does not fit the singular according to the inflection pattern .
