Metin Akpınar

Metin Akpınar (born November 2, 1941 in Aksaray , Istanbul ) is a Turkish actor . Through his artistic partnership with Zeki Alasya , he formed one of the most famous comedian duos in Turkish film history.

Life and work

Metin Akpınar graduated from Istanbul University with a degree in law and literature. In 1964 he first appeared in the Ulvi-Uraz Theater in the play Gözlerimi Kaparım Vazifemi Yaparım . He co-founded the Devekuşu Theater, which opened in 1967 and is considered the first Turkish cabaret theater, and was its managing director until it closed in 1992.

In 1998 Akpınar was awarded the title of Devlet Sanatçısı by Süleyman Demirel , the then President of Turkey and the Ministry of Culture . This title is awarded to actors who have shaped Turkish culture through special achievements.

He played most of his films with Zeki Alasya, where he usually played the role of the astute.
