Güle, Güle is a romantic tragic comedy by Zeki Ökten from 1999. Metin Akpınar plays the leading role .

The plot revolves around five friends of retirement age who live on a Turkish island. One of them has been in love with a Cuban woman for two decades , who once emerged from the sea, with whom he had a one-day romance and with whom he has been writing love letters ever since. This year he finally wants to go to Cuba to visit her. But he meets serious obstacles. His four friends help to the best of their ability to make his wish come true.
Production and publication
The film was produced from a script by Fatih Altınöz and directed by Zeki Ökten . Engin Düzyol composed the music .
The film was released in Turkish cinemas on February 4, 2000 and premiered in Germany on September 28, 2000. In Hungary Güle, Güle was shown at two film festivals.
Reviews
On September 15, 2000, the film received the rating “particularly valuable” from the Wiesbaden film evaluation office . In the statement of the jury it is said that the film tells the story of “pleasantly calm and people-friendly” and that “its interesting characters become vivid with cleverly chosen details”. He takes sides for a "liberal and emancipated society".
The Rhein-Zeitung described it as a “soulful human film”. He deals “not only with the phenomena of friendship and love, but also addresses conflicts between generations, between tradition and modernity and between the sexes”.
