Metin Türköz

Metin Türköz (* 1937 with Kayseri ) is a German songwriter of Turkish origin. He was the first singer of Turkish folk music in Germany.

Life

The trained locksmith came to Germany in 1962 to work for Ford in Cologne , but as a folk singer he became the "voice of the Turkish workers in Germany" ( Nedim Hazar ). He released 13 long-playing cassettes and 72 singles with Gurbet Türküleri, some of whom were sung in two languages ​​(Turkish and German) . Metin Türköz ended his music career in the 1970s and then worked as a fruit and vegetable dealer, in a snack bar and finally as a butcher in a Turkish supermarket.

Türköz still lives in Cologne today.
