Metisse is a 2 ½ D - desktop environment running on the X Window System is based. It is included in the Linux distributions Mandriva One 2007 and Sabayon Linux .
Metisse has many features that set it apart from the larger Compiz 3D desktop project : For example, windows can be rotated three-dimensionally in all directions. In Compiz, this is only possible with the Freewins module, which is currently under development . Metisse does not focus on visually appealing effects such as the "wobbling windows" in Compiz. Instead, functionality and productivity have a higher priority for developers.
