Metrodorus of Lampsakos (Anaxagoreer)
Metrodoros von Lampsakos ( Greek Μητρόδωρος Mētródōros , German also Metrodor ) was an ancient Greek philosopher . He lived in the 5th century BC. BC and was one of the pre-Socratics .
Metrodorus was a student of Anaxagoras . He wrote a rationalizing, allegorical treatise on the works of Homer . In this he understood the Olympic deities and Homeric heroes as part of an "organism" in which Achilles represented the sun or Dionysus the spleen.
Metrodorus is mentioned in Plato's Dialogue Ion .
