Micaela Corimberto (born August 29, 2001 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine handball player who is particularly successful in the beach handball variant .

Career

Micaela Corimberto lives in her native Buenos Aires. She plays for Mariano Acosta Handball Club (FeMeBal Mariano Acosta) in Quilmes . In beach handball, she plays on the Brazilian beach handball tour. Her twin sister Fiorella is also part of the extended squad of the Argentine national beach handball team.

Corimberto was initially a member of the Argentine national youth team in beach handball. Although she was usually shortlisted before major tournaments, she was not called up for the Argentine team in the end. For example, she was a member of the expanded squads for the Pan American Beach Handball Junior Championships 2017 (U17) and for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in her home city of Buenos Aires. She later moved up to the national beach handball team of Argentina . Here, too, she was part of the extended squad before tournaments, for example for the South American Beach Games 2019 in Rosario , but was not nominated in the end.

So far she has celebrated successes above all with her club teams. Due to the much higher number of games and competitions, it often starts here in Brazil. In the first ever Argentine beach handball summer tour, she was fourth with her team El Rejunte . At the end of 2019, Corimberto and her sister took part in the finals of the Brazilian beach handball tour as a guest player for the Mestre Hand Club and took sixth place. Together with her national team colleagues Agustina Mamet , María Florencia Allende , Soto, Benedetti, Balsas, Turnes and her sister, she won the IFES Fly Summer cup in Montevideo in January 2020 .
