Michael Berger (artist)

Michael Berger (* 1966 in Johannesburg ) is a German jewelry designer , master goldsmith and draftsman . His work focuses on kinetic jewelry , kinetic objects and drawing . The preferred materials are stainless steel and gold .

Life

After his birth in Johannesburg , Berger grew up in Münster , where he began training as a goldsmith in 1987 . Until 1992 he worked as a journeyman in Koblenz and Düsseldorf and passed the master craftsman examination in 1998. At the same time he studied life drawing with Günter Jäntsch .

He was an employee and workshop manager at Friedrich Becker for seven years . In 1999 Berger set up his own studio in Düsseldorf- Oberkassel and has been a member of the artist group " düsselGOLD ", the Federal Association of Arts and Crafts and the Society for Goldsmiths , Hanau since 2007 .
