Michael Conaghan

Michael Conaghan ( Irish Mícheál Ó Connacháin ) is an Irish politician .

Conaghan was born in County Donegal and grew up there as one of seven children on a small farm. Due to the poor economic situation in the region, many residents had to emigrate to England to find work there. This also applied to Conaghan and his father.

After his return to Ireland, Conaghan studied at University College Dublin and subsequently worked as a teacher. He found a job at Inchicore College of Further Education and worked there for the next 30 years. Among other things, he acted as its deputy director.

Conaghan has been a member of the Irish Labor Party since 1990 . In 1991 he was elected to the Dublin Corporation , now the Dublin City Council . On June 21, 2004, he was elected 335th Lord Mayor of Dublin by the City Council . Conaghan held this office from June 2004 to June 2005. He lives in Ballyfermot with his wife Marian and two children . Conaghan also chairs the Save Bewley's campaign .

In the elections for the 31st Dáil Éireann in 2011, Conaghan ran in the constituency of Dublin South-Central.
