Michael James Roberts is an American agricultural economist . He is a professor at North Carolina State University .

Life

Roberts studied economics and decision theory at the University of California, San Diego ( BA , 1992). This was followed in 1994 with a Masters in Applied Economics from Montana State University . An MA in Statistics and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Roberts graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000 . Until 2008 he worked for the Economic Research Service (ERS) of the USDA . He has taught at North Carolina State University since 2008.

Robert’s research is somewhere between agricultural and environmental economics . At the ERS he examined, among other things, the effects of agricultural policy on production, land use and farm size. He later began research on the impact of global warming on agriculture , as well as the effects of biofuels on global food prices and their volatility . He also works on contract auctions to reduce the costs of CO 2 sequestration .
