Michael Jecks

Michael Jecks (* 1960 in Surrey ) is a British author of historical crime novels.

Life

Jecks is the son of an actuary and the youngest of four brothers. Before he decided to become a full-time writer through a layoff in 1994, he worked in the computer industry. He lives with his wife, daughter and son in north Dartmoor in South West England.

Jecks wrote a series of novels about Sir Baldwin Furnshill, a former Knight Templar and his friend Simon Puttock, the captor of Lydford Castle. Michael Jecks recently founded The Medieval Murderers. A group of historical writers, entertainers and speakers consisting of himself, Bernard Knight, Ian Morson, Susanna Gregory, Phillip Gooden and CJ Sansom . Each member of the group works on their own books, which appear as thematically related novels under the brand The Medieval Murderers.

As a member of the Society of Authors and Royal Society of Literature , Jecks was chairman of the Crime Writers' Association from 2004-2005. In 2005 he became a member of the Detection Club. Since 1998 he has organized the “CWA Debut Dagger” competition twice, in which unpublished authors could win their first contracts. One of the winners is Allan Guthrie. In other years Jecks was a jury member for the CWA / Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award three times.

Michael Jecks is a speaker at literary festivals and historical meetings where he speaks with Ian Mortimer, a historian and also a member of The Medieval Murderers.
