CJ Sansom
Christopher John Sansom (* 1952 in Edinburgh ) is a British writer .
Life
Born and raised in Edinburgh, the only child of a Presbyterian family, Sansom studied history at the University of Birmingham and received his PhD on Labor Party politics on South Africa . After working in various professions for a while, he changed his career and became a lawyer until he limited himself to writing.
He became known for the Matthew Shardlake series , a series of novels about the hunchbacked lawyer Matthew Shardlake in England during the reign of Henry VIII , who in the first two novels went on a dangerous political mission on behalf of Thomas Cromwell .
Sansom lives in Brighton .

Film adaptations
The BBC planned to film the first part of the Matthew Shardlake series for television; Kenneth Branagh was to take on the leading role . The project is currently not being pushed forward.
