from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael II. Müller (Ammann) (* around 1570 in Zug ; † around 1642) was a Swiss glass painter .

Müller created glass paintings for churches and monasteries (e.g. standing panes in the parish church of Mellingen (1629–1630) and in the Flüeli chapel in 1617) as well as for private foundations (mainly framework architecture with scrollwork cartouches ). Through colored glasses and enamel color technique he achieved an increased joy of color. "According to the predominantly Catholic clients, depictions of saints and coats of arms predominate in Michael Müller's discs."

Müller is one of the most productive and popular glass painters in central Switzerland . Works by him can be found in the State Collection of Graphics in Munich , in the Swiss National Museum , in Zug Castle and in the Maria Sacrifice Convent in Zug. He was also politically active and a member of the St. Luke Brotherhood in Zug . He was the father of the glass painter Paul Müller (~ 1600–1643).
