location

The church is located in the center of Klausheide on Klausheider Weg / corner of Heideschulstrasse. Opposite on Heideschulstrasse is the village community center with a kindergarten, sports hall and multi-purpose hall; to the south of it is the Schützenplatz, the Maria Montessori school and the sports fields. The church is oriented exactly to the east.

history

On October 1, 1924, an independent Lutheran congregation was founded in Nordhorn, to which the Klausheider Lutherans belonged; before that they belonged to today's Kreuzkirche parish of Lingen. In 1956, another Lutheran church was built in the Nordhorn district of Blanke (Martin Luther Church) and the church in the city center was initially called the city church to distinguish it, from 1964 it was called the Kreuzkirche, the congregation corresponding to the Kreuzkirche parish.

In 1956 Reformed and Lutheran Christians founded the Evangelical Church Building Association in the young Klausheide congregation . V. with the purpose of building a common church. The association members were able to collect around 17,000 DM in donations, which were used to finance the bells and the organ. The political community made a plot of land available free of charge, and the construction costs of 85,000 DM were borne by the Lutheran regional church. On August 13, 1960, State Superintendent Kurt Degener laid the foundation stone for the Michaeliskirche, which was built according to plans by the architect Max H. Berling from Osnabrück. The inauguration took place on January 25, 1962. The Lutheran congregation continues to belong to the Kreuzkirche congregation, which has now merged with the Christ congregation to form the Christ and the Cross congregation.

In 1990 a community room with a kitchen and toilets was added to the Michaeliskirche. After the Catholic Christians were admitted in 2009, the interior of the church was renovated in 2012 and a stained glass window of the St Ludgerus Church was installed.

Furnishing

Special works of art in the church are the cross above the altar and the themed stained glass window, which comes from the former Catholic St. Ludgerus Church. As part of the interior renovation of Michaeliskirche in 2012, the window was given a special place in the immediate vicinity of the font. The "burning heart" shown is intended to remind of the passion for faith and God's love for people.

Bells

The ringing consists of three bells from the Rincker bell and art foundry , which are arranged one above the other in the tower. The bell disposition is c '' - d '' - e '' (motif: pater noster ; two large seconds).

use

The church is one of the few churches in Germany, which is used by three denominations and entertain, but is not, by definition, an interdenominational church . Michaeliskirche is owned by the Lutheran congregation, but until 2009 the Sunday services alternated between the Lutheran and the Reformed congregation. Since the dedication of the St. Ludgerus Church in Klausheide in 2009, the Catholic services have also taken place in the Michaeliskirche. The divine service order provides for a change between the denominations on the first three Sundays of the month: on the first Sunday of the month the divine service of the Reformed community takes place, on the second Sunday the Eucharistic celebration of the Catholic community and on the third Sunday the divine service of the Lutheran community. On the fourth Sunday of the month there is an ecumenical word service, which is also organized alternately by the three congregations; If the month has five Sundays, there is no service on that Sunday.
