Michaelskapelle (Hittisau)

The Michaelskapelle is a Roman Catholic chapel in the hamlet of Reute in the municipality of Hittisau . It is the oldest building in Hittisau and is a listed building. The originally much smaller chapel was expanded twice.

history

The chancel with blind arcades with polygonal cross vaults and a turret with a pointed helmet was built around the year 1660. Around 1800 the nave was added with a flat ceiling over a profiled cornice. In 1904 the chapel got its distinctive wooden vestibule and tower.

Furnishing

High altar

The high altar, built around 1660, has a statue of St. Michael . The side altars from the 18th century bear figures from the 19th and 20th centuries, on the left the statue "Maria, the Rosary Queen" and on the right Saint Joseph with the baby Jesus.

The right side wall of the nave is decorated with the painting Maria vom Guten Rat from the 18th century, opposite is a statue of God the Father as ruler with a scepter and globe.

In the anteroom there are statues of St. Konrad von Parzham , St. Anthony and St. Theresa as well as a painting from the 18th century that again depicts the Archangel Michael.
