The Michelshof is a former farmhouse in the center of the village of Großeneder . The well-preserved half-timbered building from 1829 is a listed building .

Building description

The house and the neighboring building on the right are set back from the main street at the end of the small cul-de-sac "Auf'm Thie". It is a rather late example of a Westphalian hall house . The gable facade facing the main street is dominated by a large, centrally arranged barn door that leads into a two-storey long wall. The living rooms are arranged to the left and right of it. Stables for the cattle may have been in the back of the house. A special feature is the very spacious mansard roof , which was used to salvage the harvest. The gable field is paneled vertically with wood.

The two gate posts on the left and right are over two floors and are slightly wider than the other posts and are decorated with peasant carved ornaments (2 goblets connected to 2 funnels by pilaster strips). The gate is divided horizontally and vertically, i.e. four-winged, and has an entrance door. The upper wings have diagonally placed windows. The gate beam with the two overhangs bears the inscription:

history

Iohannes Michels (* 1784), the owner of the house, came from Großeneder, where his father Hans Jürgen Michels was probably also a farmer. On May 3, 1807 he married Eliesabet Bowert (* 1788 in Drankhausen ). They had three children: Maria Theresia Michels (* 1811), Iohannes Anton Michels (* 1813) and Bernard Michels (* February 5, 1823, † September 21, 1853). In 1829, after a fire, they had to rebuild their house, which was then number 106.

On June 13, 1843, Bernard Michels married Anna Margarethe Nolte (May 21, 1817, † January 6, 1891) from the Spiegelhof in Germete . He also had three children with her: Johann Michels (1844–1909), Theodor Michels (* 1846) and Anton Michels (1851–1923). After the death of Bernard Michels due to a stroke in 1853, Anna Margarethe remarried on Feb. 18, 1854, namely Hubertus Berendes (Oct. 23, 1826 in Eissen, † Dec. 13, 1899). With him she had another son, Philipp Berendes (* March 25, 1855, † June 19, 1905).

At that time the farm was continued by Johann Michels. In the immediate vicinity at Wilhelmstrasse 1, there is still an agricultural business run by Elmar Michels.
