Micro dual inline memory module

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Micro dual inline memory module ( micro DIMM ) is a design of memory modules , which compared to the SO-DIMM is even smaller. This miniature memory module is designed for use as main memory in sub- notebooks . It was presented by Infineon in mid- 2004 and is standardized by the JEDEC consortium. However, it was installed in the Sony PCG-TR1MP subnotebook in mid-2003, and Kingston also manufactured the module in 2003. In 2004, micro-DIMMs were specified for double data rate 2 memory with capacities of 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB, and 2 GB variants were available at very high prices.

With a new concept for the plug connection - so-called 'mezzanine connector', 214 pins are implemented.

MicroDIMM are used by the following sub- notebooks :

  • ASUS M5200N / M5600N (M5N) SERIES NOTEBOOK
  • FUJITSU SIEMENS LIFEBOOK P SERIES
  • HITACHI FLORA 210W
  • JVC MP
  • PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK
  • SONY VAIO
