MicroBee (Micro Bee) was a trademark for a range of home computers made by Applied Technology , which was later renamed MicroBee Systems .

The original MicroBee computer was developed in Australia . Owen Hill and Matthew Starr were also involved. The computer was based on properties of the DG-Z80 and DG-640 S-100 processor cards developed by David Griffith, the TCT-PCG S-100 card developed by TCT Micro Design, and the MW6545 S-100 card developed by Dr. John Wilmshurst. The computer was originally designed as a two-board unit. The basis was the "mainboard", which contained the keyboard, the Zilog Z80 microprocessor , the Synertek 6545 CRT controller, 2K "screen" RAM, 2K character set ROM (128 characters) and 2K PCG (Programmable Character Graphics) RAM (128 characters). Each byte in the RAM screen addressed one character in the ROM character set or in the PCG RAM. A second board, called "Coreboard", contained the memory and later models were also equipped with a floppy disk controller.
