Microsite

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In web design, a microsite (or micro website ) is a slim website with a few sub-pages and low navigation depth within a larger internet presence. The microsites are visually independent of the actual website and, thematically and creatively, form an independent small website.

Comparable to the dossier in a newspaper, microsites usually deal with a topic or an object as comprehensively as possible. For example, there can be a microsite for a program within the online offer of a television broadcaster or a microsite for a car model on the website of a car manufacturer. As a supplement to the main presence, microsites can address visitors more specifically and are therefore often used for advertising and sales purposes. In these cases, the microsite can be designed as an action page and then serves as an interactive ordering and / or information tool.
