Dynamics CRM

Microsoft Dynamics CRM is customer relationship management software from Microsoft . It is part of the Microsoft Dynamics enterprise software applications . In contrast to the other Dynamics products, Dynamics CRM has been based entirely on Microsoft .NET since version 3.0 and can be easily integrated into Visual Studio .NET projects.

history

The first version that was available to customers was version 1.2. Version 2 was completely skipped for marketing reasons. From version 3.0 there were easier customization options and printing was now possible. In addition, Dynamics CRM has been completely integrated into Outlook . E-mails, appointments and tasks can be transferred to Dynamics CRM with the "Track in CRM" button. Also, offline synchronization is designed for sales representatives. The amount of data is only limited by the size of the local hard drive. The 2 GB limit normally applied to Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition databases is lifted by the installed client. The current version is 2016, which, in addition to being available globally as an online service, has brought with it further profound enhancements.

Functionality

The 2011 version is characterized by new functions such as field-level security and other enhancements. Perhaps the most important feature is the multi-instance capability, which allows multiple disjoint organizational units to be accommodated on a single server. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 was released with the following improvements:

  • More robust and scalable
  • Improved remote access, even without VPN, directly via HTTP and HTTPS
  • Very deep integration in Microsoft Outlook
  • Integration in Word and Excel
  • Support of dynamic tables in Excel so that changes to the data in CRM also update the data in the dynamic Excel tables, including any graphics and evaluations they may contain
  • Support of dynamic Excel pivot tables
  • Field level security
  • User-specific masks
  • Integration of dashboards
  • Support of wizards that can be created via the interface to simplify data entry
  • Support of JavaScript libraries to store code centrally and use it in several areas
  • Support of solutions to make extensions easier to distribute

The most obvious change in version 2013 is the new user interface, which has been further optimized in version 2015.

In the 2016 version, CRM was supplemented by additional optional and partly chargeable add-ons, such as the project service (for project acquisition and processing) and portals (as a self-service portal for external users such as customers, suppliers, partners or employees).

technical infrastructure

Dynamics CRM can be used in three different ways. On the one hand, the customer can access CRM Online . The software is hosted by Microsoft. Second, Microsoft partners can also host Dynamics CRM in a data center and make it available to their customers over the Internet from there. Third, the software can also be set up on site in the company.

The following technical infrastructure is required for on-site operation:
