description

Mid House is located near the coast in the northeast of the island. It can be reached via the road that runs along the east coast. It is a typical, traditional cottage on the Orkney Islands, which is largely in its original state with the exception of a one-story extension from 1912. The entrance area of the one-story cottage is located on the south side on a porch with a more recent flat roof . It is shifted slightly to the left from the center and is flanked by two windows. Another window is in the annex at the right end of the cottage. In the slate-roofed gable roof are skylights installed. A total of three chimneys protrude from the two gable ends of the original building and the extension. Two buildings face south, so that a roughly U-shaped floor plan is created. They house a barn and a wagon shed. At the rear there is an extension with a pent roof . There is a small, elongated shed in the northwest. The facades are plastered and the building edges are set off with corner stones . Numerous historical details have been preserved in the interior. This includes the woodwork and the box beds.
