The Middle Park Stadium was a football stadium in Melbourne , Australia . It was built in 1959 and served the club South Melbourne FC as the venue for its home games. The stadium had a capacity of around 18,000 seats, of which 2,000 were on the main stand. In 1994, the stadium was in preparation for the construction of the Formula 1 -Rennstrecke Albert Park Circuit demolished.
South Melbourne FC first moved to the Olympic Park Stadium until their new home ground, the Bob Jane Stadium , was completed.
