The mignon egg is a Finnish confectionery that consists of the shell of a chicken egg filled with nougat . The eggs have been marketed by Fazer since 1896 and are the manufacturer's second oldest product after Pihlaja (1895).

Manufacturing

The mignon egg is made entirely by hand . After production, each egg, including the filling, weighs 52 g. This is guaranteed by selecting the correct egg size. First a hole is drilled in the underside of the egg. It is freed from egg yolks and whites and purified. Then the filling with the almond hazelnut nougat filling follows. Finally, the egg is dried and with a plug of icing sugar , rice - Protein closed and a little water.

  • Fazer uses around 2.5 million eggshells for Mignon production every year.
  • Mignon can contain traces of egg. However, it is lactose-free.
