biography

society

As far as understandable, España began his professional career in the 1983/84 season with Pumas de la UNAM , for which he worked for eleven years before he came to Santos Laguna via the Tigres de la UANL (1994/95 season) , with whom he was under contract until the winter break of the 2000/01 season before returning to the Pumas in January 2001.

National team

Between 1984 and 1994 he was a total of 78 times for the Mexican national soccer team and scored two goals. At the 1986 World Cup in his own country , he made it from the initial substitute (in the first game against Belgium from the 69th minute and in the second game against Paraguay from the 89th minute) to the regular player who played the last three games of the Mexicans completed the full distance.

Notes and individual references

  1. In the most varied of sources, the same two dates of birth appear again and again, which were also adopted differently from the various Wikipedia language versions. For example, the English version says April 4, 1961, while the Spanish version says January 31, 1964. The blatant contradictions arise from within the various sources. For example, FIFA puts his date of birth as April 4, 1961, but at the same time names him as a participant in the U-20 World Cup in 1983 , which in turn suggests a more likely year of birth 1964. The Spanish Wikipedia goes the opposite way. She puts his date of birth (incidentally, in accordance with the source web link mentioned below ) as January 31, 1964, but gives the year 1978 as the start of his professional life, which is just as difficult to reconcile. Obviously, Miguel España ended his active career at the end of the 2002/03 season, so that - especially taking into account his participation in the U-20 World Cup in 1983 - the date of birth January 31, 1964 is to be regarded as more likely.
