Mike Royce (* 1964 ) is an American actor, screenwriter and television producer.

Life

Royce grew up in Syracuse, New York. He then graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt High School in 1982 and then went to film school at Ithaca College, which he graduated from in 1986.

From 1988 to 1999, Royce was a stand-up comedian in New York City. For several years he was also a warm-up comedian for shows like The Maury Povich Show, Viva Variety, and Spin City. He got his first job in 1997. In 1999, Royce joined the writing team at Everybody Loves Raymond , where he worked his way up to the position of executive producer for the last two seasons. In 2008, TNT ordered a pilot for a new series from Royce and Ray Romano. In January 2009 they ordered TNT 10 episodes for the new series "Men of a Certain Age" , which premiered on Monday, December 7th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.

Awards

Royce was nominated for an Emmy Award 2003 in the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series category for the Everybody Loves Raymond episode "Advice". He and the other writers and producers of Everybody Loves Raymond won Emmy Awards for "Best Comedy" twice, in 2003 and 2005.
