Mikko Rimminen (born May 8, 1975 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish poet and writer .

Life

Mikko Rimminen is the son of the Finnish documentary filmmaker Sakari Rimminen . He studied creative writing for four years at the private Kriittinen korkeakoulu University in Helsinki. He made his debut as a poet in 2000 with the volume of poetry Jännittävää olisi nahdä pihalla lintuja .

He made his debut as a writer with Pussikaljaromaani in 2004. The novel was translated into Swedish, Dutch, Latvian, Russian and, under the title of the bag beer novel, also into German. In addition to critical acclaim, he was awarded the Kalevi Jäntti Prize and was nominated for the prestigious Finlandia Prize . A theater adaptation in 2006 was followed in 2011 by a film adaptation staged by Ville Jankeri and starring Jussi Nikkilä , Ylermi Rajamaa and Eero Milonoff .

With his third novel Nenäpäivä , he was finally awarded the Finlandia Prize in 2010. The story about the loneliness of a middle-aged woman and her attempt to catch up with society was published in German on dtv in 2013 under the title The Red Nose Day .
