Microfauna

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As micro flora is called benthic animals , which are smaller than 0.2 mm. Animal organisms that are larger can be assigned to the mesofauna (from 0.2 mm to 2 mm).

The microfauna mainly includes protozoa , such as flagellates , root pods and ciliates, but also small roundworms . They mostly live saprophytic or as bacteria eaters in the water-filled pore spaces of the soil and in the water film around soil particles and roots .
